Fahd was exhausted, perplexed, and in deep thoughts. He was trying to connect his thoughts to his innermost darkness but, still, he was getting nothing. It just seemed to be a big empty hole and he was watching himself fall deeper and deeper.
All he needed was a ‘rope of positivity’ to pull him back up and help him get back on the ground.
He stared with horror through the glass window where his father lay on the bed with an oxygen mask. ‘What happened to the fighter within a week's time?’ Fahd thought to himself.
He felt lonely among the hustle and bustle in the hospital. Though there were people around him, he felt that he was lonelier than he ever was.
However, he could not allow depression to take over him. He did not have the time! He was supposed to run from one counter to another collecting the reports, trying to catch hold of the doctors, and looking for the scarce medicines all around the city.
Apart from all this, he also had to carry food for his sick father four times a day as there was no facility in the hospital despite paying a hefty amount.
The father ate the food and complained, ‘I am so sick and you are still not taking care of me. I never see you around.’
Hearing this Fahd broke down. He looked at his father and said nothing. After all, he was a patient, a positive.
Though Fahd’s father was Covid positive in the physical sense, Fahd was feeling sick mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. He felt that some virus had attacked him.
It was as if he was going to a battlefield every day. The battlefield was so dangerous that even after protection you can be severely attacked by the deadly virus.
Back at home, his mom had started coughing. He stood staring as his mind stopped functioning at the moment. He prayed to God more than ever before.
He sat looking at his life take such a drastic turn and he felt that he could do nothing but, just look at it like the way we watch movies with a very unpredictable end.
But, he could not sit and flow away in his thoughts. He just did not have the time to think or take care of himself. He had to run errands.
He realized life is unpredictable and family is the most important part of it. When you are suffering you will only find your family by your side. He knew that when his parents came back home he had to live every moment to the fullest, stop complaining or loathing because there is no time!
We all feel we have a lot of time to keep grudges, complain, and fight, for hatred and competition. But, this pandemic taught Fahd and all of us that there is no time for negativity. We have to live our lives in a positive light and a better ray of hope. We need to build ourselves and all the others around us. Help them as much as we can because we do not know when we might need the help. We all need each other to grow as a society and community.
Fight back as one community!
